SLR camera a British invention?
A Jersey (Channel Islands) man Thomas Sutton is credited with inventing the principal of the single-lens reflex camera in 1861 which provided the lead for the first 35mm SLR, albeit not for another 70 years.
Sutton had also three years earlier pioneered the earliest panoramic camera with a wide-angle lens, the lens consisting of a glass sphere filled with water.
